How Homeschooling Gives Young Athletes a Massive Advantage

What do Tim Tebow, Serena and Venus Williams, and Justin Jackson of the Dallas Mavericks all have in common? All were young athletes who took their skill to the highest level possible, excelling beyond peers in their chosen sport.

But what places them in a unique group among many other professional athletes and Olympic medal winners?

They were all homeschooled.

To professionally compete, student athletes need the flexibility to train, travel, and study. Homeschooling offers exactly that kind of flexibility so children can balance the demands of athletic goals with academic requirements.

Homeschooling is a natural choice for many parents whose children are pursuing mastery in competitive athletics as an alternative to tradtional public or private school.

Homeschool students have come a long way and have cleared many hurdles to gain recognition academically. Hundreds of studies have revealed that homeschool students on the average score 20 to 30 points above the national average on standardized achievement tests. The average homeschooler's academic ability is beyond dispute. Colleges and universities across the United States as a result have begun to open their doors to homeschoolers.

We have had students who came and trained with us after being cut from their school basketball team and made their team the next year. We also had students who were on their C or B teams when they started training with us and the next season made the A team, JV, or Varsity. Ninety percent of our students earn basketball scholarships without ever playing AAU basketball or any showcase basketball tournaments. AAU only works for a small percentage of players. Our system develops well - rounded student athletes and help them find the college that is the right fit for their life and career, not just basketball.

We have our own spring and summer development basketball games that is partnered with NCSA and develops players for colleges who recruit well - rounded student athletes.  Basketball is a small part of most students lives, we focus on creating a postive experience while developing the whole person. We teach our students to view life from a broad perspective. That involves helping them set and reach short term basketball goals and long term life and career goals. We do both well, which is what set our program apart from all others.
